Combat immunity

I wholeheartedly agree with the letter to the editor from Sir Desmond De Silva QC (www.sirdesmonddesilvaqc.com) in yesterday’s Sunday Telegraph, where he states that Human Rights legislation is totally inappropriate on the battlefield and the law of armed conflict should operate.

I have long suggested that combat immunity is appropriate in wartime where, in the heat of battle, thinking is impaired. This would provide immunity from prosecution for our service men and woman in combat and is complete common sense.
