Hilary Meredith, CEO of Hilary Meredith Solicitors Ltd, will be giving evidence at the Defence Sub Committee’s inquiry into the support offered by the Ministry of Defence to former and serving military personnel who are subject to judicial process tomorrow.
During the session, the Committee will be examining:
* The support provided by the MoD to members and former members of the Armed Forces (and their families)
* The advice given by the MoD on how to access independent legal advice
* The impact of judicial processes on service personnel, veterans and their families
* Whether the MoD’s framework is fit for purpose
It is the second Defence Committee Hilary has provided evidence to recently.
In April, the Defence Committee published its Beyond Endurance? Military exercises and the duty of care report. Agreeing with evidence, and a longstanding campaign, by Hilary Meredith, the Committee recommended that the MoD should be charged with corporate manslaughter and lose its Crown immunity when there is a blatant disregard for life.
