We are delighted with the news that Jamie Burdekin, who has been sponsored by Hilary Meredith Solicitors since 2012, has been selected by Paralympics GB for the Rio Games this summer.
Jamie has been selected in the highly competitive quad division – for those with impairment that affects the upper as well as lower body. He already has a Paralympic medal to his name, having won 2008 bronze in quad doubles with Peter Norfolk at Beijing Paralympics.
“I’m delighted and honoured to be selected to represent my country for my third Paralympic Games and I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got,” said Jamie.
Penny Briscoe, Chef de Mission for ParalympicsGB, said: “This is a very strong line-up of wheelchair tennis players. Their performances over the last four years really speak for themselves and I have every confidence that they will excel this summer in Rio.”
Geraint Richards, Team Leader for wheelchair tennis, said: “I’m very proud of the ten players selected from the Tennis Foundation’s world class performance programme to go to Rio as they have all been working incredibly hard to rise up the rankings and secure their place. With so many recent Grand Slam successes our hopes and expectations are high for medals at the Games and I’m sure they will all do ParalympicsGB proud come September.”
Rio 2016 begins on 7 September and everyone at Hilary Meredith Solicitors will be cheering Jamie on.
