Jamie Burdekin and his partner Andy Lapthorne were narrowly beaten by the US partnership of Nick Taylor and David Wagner in the 2015 UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters on Saturday in California.
In a thrilling final, Jamie and Andy, second seeds going into the tournament, went down 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 against the two highly experienced Americans. This was after the British pair had already soundly beaten their opponents in the earlier round robin section of this tournament by 3 straight sets.
The British duo are now returning to the UK, thrilled to have reached the final of this world ranking event but equally disappointed not to have claimed their first Masters title together. The experience though will put them in good stead for the hard months of competition and training in the lead up to the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016.
Jamie competes at the ITF Nottingham Indoor Tournament from 18-22 November and we wish him every success in that competition.
