Congratulations to the Mercian Regiment returning today from Afghanistan, my local Regiment who recruit from the Macclesfield and Wilmslow area.
I know their thoughts will be for the sad loss of Lance Corporal Webb who at only 24 yrs died of his wounds in a Taliban attack only weeks ago in Helman Province, a sad loss for the Mercians.
They march through Macclesfield at 3.00 pm today and the Mayor will receive the regimental salute.
