MoD Gold Award for University of Chester

The University of Chester has been awarded the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.

The Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire other organisations to do the same.

The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

As far as the University is aware, there are less than 10 English Universities which have received the Gold award. As Chester is a garrison town and home to one of only three remaining North West Barracks, the award will be warmly received by the local population.

Hilary Meredith, Chair of Hilary Meredith Solicitors, has worked with the University of Chester as a Visiting Professor of Law and Veterans’ Affairs since 2017.

In her role as Visiting Professor, Hilary support the outputs of the Westminster Centre for Research and Innovation in Veterans’ Wellbeing.
