A British soldier has died in the final week of his training course in a tragic diving incident.
An investigation has been launched into the death of Lance Corporal George Partridge at the National Dive Activity Centre in Chepstow, Gloucestershire.
My heart goes out to Lance Corporal George Partridge’s family on this tragic loss of life.
It’s a very sad fact that the MoD received so many crown censors (they are immune from Health and Safety executive sanction,) involving military diving that Parliament commissioned a 6 week audit back in Sept 2002. Incredibly the recommendations were not acted on for a further 2 years causing 2 more deaths.
It is hoped that the military diving safety has improved significantly since then.
