Simon Quinn, Partner, Solicitor and Head of Military at Hilary Meredith Solicitors, hosted APIL’s Military Special Interest Group meeting in Manchester last week.

The event, which took place at Exchange Chambers, featured a number of speakers with wide-ranging expertise in military injury claims including barristers Chris Allen and Stuart McCracken.
Topics covered included recent Military claim(s) decisions & MoD statistics; fracture cases, Abbott & Ors v MOD, the Matrix and the Military-NIHL landscape and ZZZ v Ministry of Defence [2025] EWHC 65 (KB). Speakers and delegates also took part in a Q&A session.

In 2019, Simon was the first-ever person to be awarded with APIL's Military Injury Specialist and Assessor status by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) under their Military Injury Specialist accreditation scheme.
The status of Accredited Military Injury Specialist is granted to a person who has not only achieved APIL Senior Litigator status, but who has also demonstrated an additional and further expertise in the specialist field of military claims.
