The MoD needs to support our troops

If we send our troops into areas of conflict then entertain spurious claims by so called civilians that spiral into prosecutions of individual serving men and women with no support, backing or independent legal advice then we need to seriously question going in the first place.

The fallout of involving our military in overseas conflicts should be foreseen and a framework of support put in place.

At the moment, with the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT) on the loose, we are talking about compensation claims from Iraq. What happens when they start on Afghanistan?  Why will the MoD and government not support those subject to the aftermath of conflict and the inevitable judicial proceedings that follow?
