Gary studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and qualified as a Solicitor in 1997. Prior to joining Hilary Meredith Solicitors Ltd, he worked in some of the larger national Personal Injury specialist practices and has considerable experience of a broad range of types of Personal Injury claims including Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, Road Traffic Accidents, Criminal Injuries and Industrial Disease claims.

Gary joined Hilary Meredith Solicitors Ltd in 2008 and was promoted to Associate Solicitor in March 2009. In March 2010 he was made a Partner within the law firm and now heads up the Personal Injury department.

Gary specialises in serious injury cases and military claims including spinal cord, traumatic brain injury and amputation cases including cases with values and settlements of several million pounds. As an ex-Quantity Surveyor , Gary is also an expert in construction- related accidents.

Case Successes

Thomas Birch v MoD [2013] EWCA CIV676: Obtaining Judgment at the Court of Appeal in a multi-million pounds claim on behalf of a Royal Marine who suffered a serious brain injury whilst serving in Afghanistan.

A seven-figure settlement on behalf of a client who suffered a serious brain injury in a road traffic accident in Jersey.

Successful claim for a soldier who suffered a serious crushing injury to his skull with associated brain injury, whilst on an exercise in the UK.

A very substantial settlement in a complex claim for a soldier who sustained an injury during fitness training leading untimately to a leg amputation.

When not working, Gary enjoys the outdoor life and is a keen canoeist, angler, camper and cyclist. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Caroline and young daughter, Ella and socialising with friends.
