Women could join British infantry by 2016

There are reports today that women could be allowed to serve in British infantry units for the first time by 2016.

An Army review of the ban on women serving in close combat has concluded the change would not have an “adverse effect” on troop cohesion.

Women are already on the front line as medics, operating in the most dangerous zones and doing a marvellous job.  It is not a step that further to take part in foot patrols as part of the infantry.  If they want to serve in the infantry they should be allowed to do so.
